Question:

Do you think all cops are bad? why…or why not

I do not, as I know personally many good cops and well I also know me and my partners were all good cops that went to work and worked very hard to keep people safe. I also knew and know there are bad cops, as there are bad people in every job. There are more “good cops” than “bad cops” or we would be in a very big mess in our country.

do you have someone involved in your family with law enforcement? if so what position?

I was involved for over 25 years and a few years when I was 16-18 year old. None of my immediate family was in Law Enforcement.

do u think you would like to learn more about law enforcement?

I think this question is for you to answer vs. me. If it is for me then my answer would be no at this point in my career.

do u think some cops have animosity against some races?

I think this is less about cops and more just about people in general. I think most people carry some animosity towards others in general, especially these days base on social media and status. I think you see race specific actions on the news because it is “good news” – Also most crimes occur in areas that have larger populations and in many of those areas people are not always diversly spread out. Thus more of one race in each area. This leads to specific area that might be more high crime being marked as possibly racially motivated when in fact it is just more about population and density of people. If crime happens there and that area is only Hispanic people as an example the press likes to state the cops are arresting more Hispanic people. Yes that is true but it is only because more people tends to lead to more bad people in that area and thus more crime by that specific race.

do you think some cops force their jobs to hard?

I assume by force you mean they use their position as a position of power. If that I have seen some do this, but most of the time those people are reined in by their supervisors or fired for misconduct. If you mean use of force when it comes to people that might resist arrest there is a lot to that topic. Most of the time arrests go without incident and are based on the attitude of the person being arrested. Or in many cases if that person is under the influence of drugs or other items that make that arrest very difficult. Do some cops go overboard, I would say in some cases yes, but just like any job I know many bosses and employees that go overboard and in the end they should pay the price for those bad decisions.

have you ever got involved with a police or law enforcement before?

I think this question is for you also. – But when I was about 15 I was pulled over when I was riding a offroad motorcycle. The Sheriff Deputy made me walk the bike back to my house (3 miles) – 3 Years later I was riding around with the Deputy as he was teaching me about law enforcement when I become a Law Enforcement Explorer (Cadet) – So he basically started my career in Volunteer Law Enforcement.

what’s do you think a typical day is for law enforcement?

This might be a question for you to answer vs me. I know what the typical day is, usually waking up and starting work very very, very late, or in the middle of the afternoon. Usually tired from the previous day. Shifts are long and people can be pretty taxing when you deal with them every day. We responded to everyone pretty much worst day to try what we could to make it slightly better. Finish the shift, write reports for 3 hours then go home, sleep and start again the next day.

how do you think law enforcement can improve the community?

This might be for you to answer also.

I know it can improve a community as I have seen it happen. We put a ton of time into trying to make communities safer and putting the bad people in jail. This is harder these days than it might look as most people get out of jail very quickly because the laws are very minimal these days and the sentences are very lenient. Thus when you cannot punish the bad people, well they do it again. Much like getting grounded by your parents, 1 day being grounded is not as bad as a month. We all tend to not do the things that might get us a month of being grounded.

Do you think there should be less police presence in certain areas in the city?

This will happen no matter what, lower crime areas request less attention. If the entire city required patrol and services at all times there would not be enough law enforcement to cover all the issues. Cities right now are having a very hard time getting people to sign up to be cops, firefighters etc. It is a huge issue. If we do not resolve that we will not even have the cops to cover the bad parts of town. COVID did not help this, retirements did not help this.

have u had a positive or negative experience with law enforcement?

This might be a question for you to answer also.

I have had both positive and negative experiences with law enforcement. Both as one in law enforcement and as a civilian.

Hope this helps
