Question:
I am a single mother so this makes me nervous, but the gist is for the past month, a little over a month, I have had random cars more than 5 different models/makes of cars that will pull into my drive way, they put their flashers on, not all of them but a few of these cars have and then they sit there. It’s always too dark to see in their car, I’ve turned in my porch light trying to indicate “leave”. One was a Lyft driver, one was a foreign man, that’s all I can make out.
But the odd thing is that these cars show up at my house between the hours of 7 AM – 8 AM EST. It’s not every day, but it’s just about! Now my Son rides a bus and they leave roughly 15 minutes before his bus gets there to pick him up which is right where they park. I live in the country, on a main busy road but it’s not “high way busy” is that makes sense. One guy pulled out after seeing my light turn on then he pulls in front of my house puts his flashers on and stares into my house from his car trying to look in. He then honks his horn twice, luckily no cars passed by while he’s sitting there, but it brought me into tears, I had to hide this from my Son because I don’t want him feeling scared. I have photos of this happening, and the other cars too.
It’s becoming very concerning because they show up like clock work and only stay for about 10-15 minutes, they don’t put anything in the mailbox, no notes on my door, no phone calls that come in while they are there or after they leave. I’ve recently paid off a debt but the cars still continue to show, I do have some debt but I am paying them off, as in I have a payment plan but it’s nothing to where I’d think an agency would send random cars to my house for over a month. This is becoming harassing.
Should I call the deputy and share what information I have on these cars? I’m thinking of moving here once my lease is up. It’s not only embarrassing, I don’t like people coming to my house so no one random has my address but then again you can easily search my name online and find where I live. I’m becoming paranoid! I’m playing any situation out in my head. A bad date playing tricks? I don’t date much anyway. Is a friend making cruel cruel jokes. I’m spiraling. I wake up anticipating a car to be there! I have a No Parking sign placed on my mailbox which faces my driveway and hopefully it works.
Any advice you can give or any ideas on what it could be would be very appreciative! If you’ve seen or heard anything similar too. It would provide me some peace of mind.
Answer:
This is odd but also a mystery that should be solved. If they are in your driveway consistently and it’s the same car that is one thing. If they are in your driveway and it is different cars it might be several things or simply who knows what is going on that might or might not be related to you specifically. I have seen issues where GPS directions re-route people to the very wrong places, especially in rural communities.
If you have photos of each car and the license plates and this is continuing to occur a call to the police seems to be warranted. If there is no immediate threat then the non-emergency number is best and ask to talk to someone about the issue. Depending on the departments policies it might be handled in many ways, the smaller the community the more likely you will get someone to come out so you can go over the situation with them.
But if people continue to go onto your property that can be considered trespassing and is always worth looking into.
If you do not have one you might want to think about a security camera, as there might be more clues when you are not always watching. The fact they stop and put their flashers on is a bit strange but pretty common for amazon delivery drivers (as in the ones not in their own trucks)
If you have license plates it should be pretty easy for law enforcement to look into at minimum if the cars are local or just totally lost passing through town.
Put together your evidence and give them a call and see if they can help. It will be interesting what you find. Law enforcement is for investigating strange things, like going to the ER, it is better to go than not to go, it is better to call than not to call.
If you get an answer please follow up it would make an interesting story for our site. Stay safe
