I would start with a local department that interests you, then a state department that interests you. Like a local police department and then your local Highway Patrol. They will have tons of resources online or you can go in person or to a recruiting event to get all the details. DO your research and see what is best for you.
Law Enforcement is a great career, but make sure you also understand that it is not an easy career and there is a lot to understand before you pin on the badge every day.
I would never talk someone out of it, but you have to know what you will be faced with daily also.
