Question:

Police made a really really bad mistake with me. I can’t get over it, the psych ward couldn’t help, I need help. Still, even if it had been my last dying breath; I’d love nothing better than to use it to thank them for their service and the good work they do. I thought  the world of police! They rescued me from a living hell and saved my life when I was 12, almost 13! I got to go to school when I hadn’t been before. I got to see kids my own age! I got to spend about 6 totally awesome hours waiting for a foster home at the police station! Later, we went to the court house and talked to a prosecutor and mothers defense attorney. They always bought me wonderful Mc Donald’s meals. I got to look across the court room at her jail house blues and look her in the eyes while I told our story. She was prosecuted for the school thing, aggravated child abuse, assault and battery w/ deadly weapon,  pimping and pandering of a minor, support of house of prostitution.. We got the fugly whore! ? So id like to thank police, if you are you; I thank you very much. I thank you for arresting and locking up people who actually commit crimes (not framed or something), especially really heinous crimes. Thank you for saving lives and changing lives like mine! Thank you for first aid and calling ambulances. Thank you for getting in ugly fights and getting hurt to protect people! Thank you for the little things like speeding tickets and DIU’s(I have one) that keep us safe! Thank you for taking the time to figure out what really actually happened at accidents, not just taking the easy way out. Thank you for taking the extra time to talk to retards, schizophrenics, and sever Bipolar1 like me. Thank you so very much for risking your life every day! Thank you for being honest and accurate in your work. Just please know and remember one thing. If/ when you do make a mistake, you never know when you could be abandoning, betraying, or completely destroying someone who absolutely thought the world or you people. If I can’t trust police, I feel like I hate everyone and everything; trust no one. I hope your still reading to answer my question. Iv told you what trust means to me; but what does it mean to you? What is the significance of the trust of the public to a police officer? Does an admiration and heart felt trust deep and real make you care or just think that I’m a delusional nut job? They don’t normally serve them selves and abandon people, do they..?

Answer:

You didn’t say what mistake the police did to you. From the letter, I assume they sent you to a psyche ward? As for your question about trust, trust means a lot to police officers. There are good and bad people in every profession, but the vast majority of officers truly care about helping people and that’s the reason they got into the profession. People sometimes do not like or agree with decisions officers have to make, but the decisions are what the officer believes is best for the person at the time. Officers are very busy and sometimes have to run from call to call, but they truly do care and make decisions based on what they feel is best for people. If officers have an attitude of not caring they will not last long in this profession. You said the psyche ward couldn’t  help, I don’t know the circumstances but sometimes psyche wards are like a revolving door where people don’t get the time or help they need before being released. I suggest finding a psychologist or  therapist you feel very comfortable with who can help you through the hard times. You might have to try a few therapist before you find one you feel really helps. Good Luck!
