QUESTION:

I can’t seem to find any clear information on this topic so here it is… What are my chances (if any) of being accepted into the hiring/recruitment process of any police department with a diagnosed kidney disease (IGA Nephropathy) and a kidney transplant that has since healed but I will be taking immunosuppressive meds the rest of my life. I’m a 26 year old male with no other ailment besides the kidney thing. I also did four years active duty and got out honorably if that helps my case. Thanks ahead of time.

ANSWER:

I would suggest you meet with the local recruiting department and openly ask them. I also would not give up hope but as we all know sometimes things can get in the way of dreams. I also would not give up without meeting with multiple different departments to see what they say specifically. Or if you know people in those departments ask them to ask the recruiting department for you then you can have more information as you try to move forward.
